2.43 A final word from David Abercrombie

The final word from the CEO of Yachting New Zealand - David Abercrombie. Congratulations to Kimberley Lim from Singapore, the new World Champion. A big hand and thank you to the regatta organisers, Napier Sailing Club and NZIODA for a well run regatta and a it was good that a fantastic time was had by all the competitors and their supporters. The City of Napier welcomed the world to their city and embraced the regatta and the visitors from around the world.

Thank you to the sponsors who have supported the World Champs.

Thank you for coming to New Zealand- the Land of the Long White Cloud and I wish you all a very safe trip home.

2.30 New World Champion Kimberly Lim from Singapore

Well Done Kimberly Lim from Singapore the new World Champion of the 2011 Opti Worlds.

The pressure must of been on for you and you held strong, good on you. Enjoy your prize giving night.

Thats a Sinapore double Teams Racing Worlds Champion and Fleet, and most likely top team.

2.22 Flag N is getting out

The races are abandon for all starts, man its all go out here.

12.15 R12C Start

The Start of R12C we can see the Pin is the way to go, we also have on board today Ian Neely Coach, what an insight from the man, he is always right.

Wind 090 at 5 to 6 knots.

4 boats are trying it on at the pin on port, no way says Ian !!

OCS the boats at the pin are all crashing into each other, just like Ian said "No Way"

FIN877 had the best pin start. At the boat there is trouble as well.

Class flags are up Yellow and Blue

1.50 Start of R12A

The line looks like the even at the mo the wind is at 90 degrees, the sailors think the Boat is favoured so the right is good.

At the Pin we have IND1124 SLO NZL4466, Boat SIN44 ITA7887

R12A AP is down.

1.39 R12A Start

Well folks its all back on Race 12A the AP is up but about to come down.

Wind is at 100 at 7 knots

1.14 General update

The wind is just not playing its part its light patchy, the tide is working against the sailors which makes the lay lines hard to pick. The PRO is not happy thinking the sailing is not fair. I think they will try to have another race but the wind needs to do its thing.

1.03 Unusual Conditions

You have heard it all before, its not normally like this, well today instead of rain we have current, so strong that the Cook Islander has taken over 10 minutes to round the wing, he went low then could not make any headway to get back to the mark. Its hot out here, the wind is still patchy. PRO is getting ready do shorten I think.

12.35 R 12A Gate

At the Gate Mark we have THA116,THA333 from the port,GER13036,AUT 1080,TPE1832,

12.30 R12A Top Mark

The first boats are around the top Mark we have on the tracker and live THA116,AUT1080,TPE1832, he came from the right.NZL4466 in 23rd.

12.18 R12B Start

Yellow and Blue Start the pin is looking good URU182,CRO1046,THA888,ISV925,NZL4465 going for the pin with Ryan Lo SIN55.They have won the Start, All Clear !!

12.11 R12A update

Looking very patchy alll over, Leonard NZL went right he is in second place at the mo, good on him.

12.03 R12A

Class Flags up Red and Green breeze at 100 degrees 6 knots, top mark in at .5 miles away.

2.27 All Races have been Abandon for the Day

Sorry folks no more racing today, as the first fleet did not get to the top mark before the time limit.

That means we only have 32 minutes to reset and start again, it was never going to happen.

So the PRO has called it a day.

2.19 R12A Time limit mark one

There is concern that the first opti may not make the time limit to the first mark. I have about 3 minutes 20 seconds and they are not quite there.

1.53 R12A Start update

The sailors are finding it hard to go forward against the current, the boat speeds are down to 1.1 to 1.6 knots its going to take time. I don't think that we will get two races in today, but we should be able to get a drop.

1.29 Race Committee boat

The Race Committee Boat has decided to move out to where the Spectator boat is we are out about 2.3miles out from the port and 1.5 miles off Bay View Beach. This was where Mark two was before.

1.09 Bad News

It sounds like all races will be abandon for the R12.

Confirmed N for November is flying.

At the pin we have THA888, SUI1613,PER188, all floping over on port.

All Clear at the start.

OK the Start of R12A is on, the pin looks good, we have URU 215,NOR 3628. RSA401,

OCS one is over not sure who.

Big pile up at the pin, USA 17321 great start on the pin.

Out to the right looks very light.

12.01 Orange Flag up

OK the PRO has decided that there is enough wind to race the Orange flag is up.

The first race will be 12A Red and Green.

We have in the Red flight Wade Waddell from USA at 7th he will be watching Rodrigo Luz from BRA 9th and the Kiwi Leonard Takahasi-Fry at 10th overall.
